Les Amis du Jazz

It’s been 34 years since the Amis du Jazz appeared on stage in Chéserex!
New musicians have replaced some of the old “friends” who have sadly passed away, but the group has lost none of its swing or energy!

The audience was enthralled from the first note: old favourites by Duke Ellington, Count Basie and, of course, Glenn Miller, helped to ensure their well-deserved success.

This year was a special occasion as we were celebrating the 40th edition of the 40th edition of Chéserex Traditional Jazz. The exceptionally talented pianist, Fabrice Eulry, created a festive atmosphere and entertained us for an hour with his varied repertoire and amusing antics. Wonderful!

Finally, the evening could not finish without traditional jazz, and who better to provide this than the Daniel Sidney-Béchet Quintet, with Olivier Franc on saxophone, worthy representatives of the legendary musician who was closely linked to New Orleans jazz. An amazing performance that will be remembered for a long time by everyone present…

Sunday, 2nd November 2014

The 40th anniversary celebrations continued on the Sunday when 120 jazz enthusiasts met at the village hall for a delicious lunch served by the Auberge des Platanes of Chéserex. And the icing on the cake was the participation of the band Le Vieux Carré who played at the first concert back in 1975, when it was called the Chéserex Traditional Jazz Festival. It was an occasion to look back and remember the good old days!
